Next Meeting: Panel with IP Attorneys Eric Begun, Zachary Aria, and Tracey Batt

Date: Wednesday, March 31, 2010
Time: 5:00 PM
Location: Room 106
As always, food will be served!

Up next we have a very special IP Club meeting that departs from our normal lecture-style events. This time we are fortunate to have two industry veterans come and give us an informal discussion about life as an IP attorney.

The first member of the panel, Eric Begun, is Chief Counsel of licensing and marketing for Invista. Mr. Begun started his career as in house council, then transferred laterally over to Blank Rome as a senior associate, eventually making partner. Finally Mr. Begun left his position at Blank Rome to take a job as chief counsel for a very large multinational polymer corporation. Mr. Begun is also an adjunct professor at the law school, and teaches IP Business Transactions in the spring semester.

Our second panelist, Zachary Aria, took a more traditional path. After graduating from NYU, he interned with a judge in New York, and is currently working his way up the associate ranks at Blank Rome in its Intellectual Property department.

Our third panelist, Tracey Batt, is the Executive Director of New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Inc as well as an adjunct professor teaching Entertainment Law this semester. Ms. Batt is a former associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, where she was intimately involved in music licensing litigations, mediations, arbitrations, and negotiations between users of music in many media and the Performing Rights Organizations ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC as well as the Recording Industry Association of America.

Please come join us for this discussion, and make sure to bring lots of questions for the panelists. Since both panelists are active practitioners, this meeting will be held in the evening on March 31st at 5:00PM in Room 106.
